Heritage Center Hours:
We are closed Mondays and Federal holidays.

Open to the Public: Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday 12-5pm.
Heritage Center Gift Shop: 10am - 3pm
Airpark Hours:  Tues - Sat 10am - 5pm and Every day from Dawn until Dusk to DoD ID card holders .

Last shuttle from the Visitor's Center is at 3:30pm
Last admitted visitor at 4:00pm
Last shuttle returning to the visitors center is at 4:30pm

US Citizens without a DoD ID card must stop at the Travis AFB Visitor's Center and check in with the security staff. All adults 18 and over must have a valid photo ID and complete a background check before receiving a pass.   Please allow enough time for your visit and the background check to be completed.  Visitors are only shuttled to and from the Visitor's Center and the Heritage Center.  If you would like a base tour you must contact Travis AFB Public Affairs.

Base Security Changes
Those with a Minnesota, Missouri, Washington State and America Samoa drivers license will only be permitted with an enhanced drivers license, as prior drivers licenses are no longer valid.

Non-US Citizens: Due to heightened security, all non-US citizens must coordinate their visit to the Heritage Center at least 2 weeks prior to the date of their visit. Please contact us for specific information required (707-424-5883 or heritagecenter1214@live.com).

Directions:

From I-80 in Fairfield, exit at Air Base Pkwy / Waterman Blvd and proceed 4.2 miles to Travis Air Force Base. All non-military visitors that do not possess a DoD issued ID card must check in at the Visitor Center.  Do not drive to the main gate.

Tours:

Tours are provided for all size groups and is available to the public.  Please call ahead and let us know you are coming. Please follow the information below for escort service and large groups.

For Escort Service to Travis Heritage Center only:

Please call ahead to schedule your tour and make sure that the time is available before sending information.  (707-424-5883) Small groups 9 or smaller, will need to check into the Visitors Center.   A tour group of 10+ visitors needing to be escorted onto the base, must send an alphabetical list of names, birthdays, and Social Security Numbers. The list must consist of all adults 18+  that will need to be escorted onto the base.  Please also include contact information for the group. Download the  Group Access form  and follow the directions on the form for a secure transmission of your personal information. This form must be received 12 days prior to the tour.    The day of the tour, all adults must present a photo ID on arrival to the Travis AFB Visitors Center.

Drivers of large vehicles and buses that will be escorted on base will be required to show all licenses, registration and insurance documents as well as the complete list of visitors during check in at the Visitors Center.  Drivers must be included in the Group Access form or complete the security check when arriving the day of the event.

Special events held at the Travis Heritage Center:

Under certain circumstances, special events may be held in the Heritage Center. Space is limited to approximately 80’ x 30’. Exhibits and furniture will not be moved or relocated to increase this area. The Heritage Center has 20 tables and about 200 chairs as well as a sound system available for use. The organization responsible for the event is responsible for set up, tear down and placement into storage of all tables and chairs used for the event. Clean up consisting of sweeping, mopping and emptying of trash is the responsibility of the organization holding the event.

The Heritage Center does not have the capability for cold storage and has limited capabilities for electrical sources to run equipment. Please consider this when requesting use of the Heritage Center.

In addition, the primary purpose of the Heritage Center is education. Visitors and tours receive priority over special events. Scheduled tours will not be cancelled or rescheduled to accommodate special events.

Heritage Center Curator no stranger to Travis

Rick Shea, Travis Heritage Center Curator, stands in front of a SA-16 Albatross on October. 13 at the heritage center at Travis Air Force Base, California.  Rick returned to Travis as a civilian employee in July after an active-duty stint at the Bay Area base during the late 1970s.
